Present: Tony Sharpe (Chair),

Harcourt, Annabel. Lyons, Natasha Norton, Hayley Brooker, Maria Froggatt, Siza
Mtimbiri, Simon Martin, David Taylor, Frank Butterfill.
Ann Abineri in attendance as clerk.
1. Welcome from the Chair – Prayer

reminded governors of their obligation to make declarations of Pecuniary
Interests if these arise.
2. Apologies for Absence
Apology for absence
from Bernard Miller received and accepted.
Rev Bowers continues
to be unable to attend due to ill health.
3. Minutes of meetings 23 November 2009
Amendment re Natasha Norton to undertake
visit - the FGB agreed that these minutes can be signed once amendment has been
made.
4. Chair’s Report
TS referred to correspondence received
inviting opinions on the consultation currently taking place regarding Bottisham Village College considering becoming a Trust School
and changing status from a Community School to a Foundation School. More
information can be obtained via www.bottishamvc.org
and a consultation will take place at the school on Friday 26th
February 2010. Governors can their comments direct, or ask Tony or Ann (clerk)
to do so
5. FMSIS Accreditation Report
Tony outlined the
actions to be dealt with to complete our FMSIS accreditation.

6. RAISEonline 2009
CA presented
graphs on KS 1 data which she explained A governor queried ‘APS’ and CA
explained this. The small sample size was also put forward as a reason for it being difficult
to draw firm conclusions from the data.
HB
presented graphs and explained data for KS 2. Two
governors asked questions regarding possible reasons behind variations between
data in recent years and HB offer explanations.
There followed an explanation by HB of the
forthcoming focus on children from 'hard to reach' families. There was
discussion of the value added aspect of the data and at which point intervention
/ extra funding becomes accessible.
Further discussion took place regarding
science testing - as this has been dropped for non pilot schools, these figures
may not be available in future. LJ explained that there is an increased
emphasis on the importance of ICT as a subject.
TS thanked CA and HB for presentation and
answering questions
6. Committee Reports
Health and Safety
FB reported on recent
meeting. Main issues identified:

classrooms planning permission.

7. Governor Visit Reports
ICT
AL and NN outlined the main points of
their visit to school on 10.12.09 to look at ICT in school. Report has been
circulated. LJ commented that the Becta review is good practice and thanked
Maria for her work on ICT.
TS thanked AL and NN for undertaking the
visit and completing their report.
Sport and PE
CH
undertook a visit to look at sport and PE in school on 9.12.09 and gave a
verbal report.
He commented on the enthusiasm of children
in sports sessions and outlined a brief review he had done of resources in the Sports
Equipment store. A governor asked a question about school teams and CA
explained which teams we have and the difficulties of transporting children to
fixtures.
Foundation Stage
JT reported on visit to the Foundation
Stage classroom (report has been circulated)
Training and Administration
JT gave a verbal report
on the Foundation Stage training she attended on
24.11.09
LJ pointed out that FB's name is listed in Learning Together for his
recent Certificate of Achievement.
SM was invited to consider standing as LA appointee - Ann to email him
to discuss how to go about this if he wishes to consider it.
Ann reminded governor’s how to let her know any training requirements,
or if they wish to book direct with Governor Training, to let her know so the
details can be added to our training register.
